Twitter is close to passing NYT in unique visitors

I am not sure it is an appropriate comparison but it's quite fascinating.

Twitter.com, less than three years old, is about to beat the venerable 14-year-old NYTimes.com in the number of unique visitors per month -- about 14 million in March versus 16.7 million, with a rate of growth much quicker.
